New Green End Farm sits right in the Chiltern Hills National Landscape, between Kensworth and Whipsnade near Dunstable. You could happily never leave your pitch, but if you fancy exploring, some of the best of the Chilterns is a short walk or drive from the farm gate. Here is where we would point you.
Whipsnade Zoo
Just five minutes away by car, or a 30-minute walk across the fields, Whipsnade is a brilliant family day out and our closest big attraction. We have written a whole guide to camping near Whipsnade Zoo if that is what brings you our way.
Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Heath
The highest point in Bedfordshire, with sweeping views right across the Vale of Aylesbury. It is a favourite spot for kite flying, gliders launch from the London Gliding Club below, and there are miles of chalk downland walks straight from the top. Bring a picnic and let the kids run.
Woodland walks and red kites
The Chilterns are criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways through beech woodland that turns gold in the autumn. Look up and you will almost always spot a red kite or two, once nearly extinct in Britain and now thriving here. Some of the best walking starts right from the farm.
The Farmer’s Boy
Our nearest pub, a proper friendly country local on Common Road, is an easy walk from the farm for a pint and a meal after a day out. Handy to know when nobody fancies cooking on the camp kitchen.
Further afield
Within an easy drive you have Woburn Safari Park, the Leighton Buzzard Railway narrow-gauge steam line, and the National Trust woods and gardens at Ashridge and Tring. Market towns like Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard cover anything you have forgotten to pack.
Base yourself on the farm
